And why the decisions made by previous leadership has a bigger impact

on today than what fans may realize. Yes, I understand that the decisions made in the past were based on the information available at the time and what the leadership was "best" for VT at the time. However, what they thought was "best" for VT at the time may have been for the short-term and not the long-term.

Likewise, the same is true for whatever decisions the current leadership makes today. They will have an impact on whatever problems future leadership has to deal with in their time. There may even be fans 50 years from now saying that VT (today) should have made different decisions than they did because of the impact it has on the 2071 version of VT.
