Then it wouldn't matter that the ACC has to schedule Wake, Duke, Syracuse, and BC for football. Barring that, or another comparable coup, the ACC will be struggling to stay financially competitive. In this case Wake should absolutely remain a member but would ideally drop football (EDIT: or become "independent" in football only). Maybe Duke too, they don't need the money or the exposure and their potential for regional fan support or broader national interest is limited at best.

And yes, the FOUR Carolina schools do seem to have a lot of influence in the ACC. Tobacco Road bias (real or perceived) is a threat to the success and stability of the conference.

Finally, newbies or not, the ACC wouldn't have survived without expansion. So save the "love it or leave it" nativist ACC stuff for another forum.
