I'm referring to Instate Rates for the Conference Network.
The ACC network will be available nationwide, but in ACC footprint states getting instate subscriber rates ($1 per month) vs out of state (15 cents per month). There are 3.5 million people in Connecticut. In addition, local advertising in that are would help.
To get instate rates, the conference has to have a member from the state. One could argue that using these laws the ACC should add Cincinnati because Ohio has more people than Connecticut. But, there will likely be some push back from the cable providers that Cincinnati doesn't appeal across all of Ohio. They are already going to do so to the ACC with Pittsburgh and Louisville. There is no doubt whatsoever in Connecticut regarding UConn. They are statewide.
What you're referring to regarding football product is the argument for West Virginia University being offered membership. They are a football brand that would upgrade the football product to help with tier 1 contract negotiations. The argument those against WVU are making is population and per capita income demographics that are the strenght of UConn.
