Even if the current division alignment creates a catch-22

the launch of the ACCN may give the ACC a good opportunity to re-align the divisions. If the Big Ten can switch from Leaders-Legends to East-West, then so can the ACC. Since the ACC cannot preserve all the rivalries and still maintain some competitive balance between the divisions, then all the schools have to realize that everyone may have to give up an annual rivalry for the good of the conference. VT may see the VT-Miami annual rivalry come to an end, but it would also mean VT could start an annual rivalry with either Clemson, FSU, or L'ville, or even NC State. Since Pitt and Syracuse claim they don't need to play each other annual in football, then it makes it easy to create the formula to be used in the realignment.

Each division would have the following:
1 NY/NE school
1 OH Valley school
1 VA school
2 NC schools
1 GA/SC school
1 FL school

The protected pairings would be as follows:
BC-Syracuse
Pitt-L'ville
VT-UVA
Duke-Wake
UNC-NC State
Clemson-GT
FSU-Da U

Then the ACC can just fill in the pieces.
