Additional information - I don't know. As for the bigger withholding, it


was explained to me that you take the bonus check, multiply it by 12, 26 or 52 (depending on how often you're paid) and the tax tables they use ASSUME that's how much you make a year, and run the withholdings based on that.

That should mean that a small bonus = smaller tax withholdings, but larger = more.
