Interesting
The Capitalism flagwhich is fundamental to me. People like you are trying to smash others down by screaming capitalism yet you don't have a full comprehension of capitalism. Capitalism does not mean anything goes and there can never be rules made by organizations that limit an individual's rights to do things while participating in that organization. Note I said an organization's rules, not the government.
Yes everyone loves "capitalism" when it benefits them. Sometimes what benefits one person or a few people goes against the overall success and well being of the organization. If you can't relate that to college football and an individual player then not much point in debating.
Capitalism means that no one is stopping an individual player from earning whatever they want on endorsements on their own. The moment they want to do that within the confines of an organization, it means they are subject to the policies of that organization.
And by the way, the all college students argument: are all college students getting a free ride (upwards of 250K in value) and seeking to participate in a varsity sport? Strings are attached. Most students would love that deal but to each their own. Do it or don't do it. Just don't expect to get something for free in this world. That's not capitalism
