Not everyone is good enough for the NFL
But that doesn’t mean they should be denied the right to earn pay they deserve. Scholarship is nice and should be involved but cold hard cash can be and is more useful to many especially with regard to those who didn’t grow up well off.
Jerod was a great QB for us and I’m appreciative of that season he had but everyone told him the NFL wasn’t going to be a legitimate option for him based off one season at this level and even after a 2nd season it would’ve been tough going for him to stick in the league but he just had to try to prove everyone wrong and also needed whatever money he could get. NIL and getting paid would’ve served Jerod well apparently.
I don’t think the schools should be able to pay whatever they want, that’s what NIL and endorsements are for just like in other sports. I think there should be a salary cap, probably based on % of profits that the school was able to create. So donors donating to and attend and spend more money at games for the program more could = a higher salary cap.
