Never discount that ND may choose to drop down

ND has de-emphasized football several times in the past.

The administration drove Frank Leahy and Lou Holtz out when it thought the football program was winning too much, so much so that it was overshadowing academics.

It has always been an interesting battle between the Holy Cross Fathers who run the school and the football program. A love/hate relationship.

The administration has always liked the money, notoriety and prestige the football program generates but has always been embarrassed by it.

Father Jenkins has already said that ND will drop down if private schools are ordered by the NLRB to pay the players.

ND is a peculiar bird and has and will make decisions regarding athletics that other folks just plainly cannot comprehend.
