The Big 12 is where they are because of their GoR not covering Tier 3. It
was a bold and strategic move that increased profits for several members (Texas, OU, and WVU) but it further destabilized their conference and has left them hamstrung to adapt to changing circumstances.
They gambled that they could attract new members to offset their key losses, that schools like FSU and Clemson would bite on the opportunity to independently market their assets. But that gamble failed.
