Maybe Big Ten ice hockey is considered a revenue sport even though

the rest of the country lumps it in the non-revenue sports. If that is the case, then ice hockey has the potential to become a bigger factor in any of the Big Ten's media negotiations than what people realize. I don't think ice hockey alone can explain the different payouts between the ACC and the Big Ten because I believe there are a number of factors involved here. It wouldn't surprise me if the Big Ten has other sports that the rest of the country undervalues for one reason or another.
