If the ACC was going to add a Canadian school, then Univ. of Toronto

may be a better choice. I believe the Varsity Blues is a bigger school and sponsors a lot more sports.

Varsity Blues (23 men and 23 women) vs. Varsity Reds (9 men and 8 women)

Also, it would send another shot across the Big Ten's bow since the Varsity Blues have come up as a potential target for Big Ten expansion (assuming the Big Ten wanted to expand into Canada). If the ACC really wanted a Canadian member, then Simon Fraser (located in Burnaby, BC) is the only Canadian school currently competing in the NCAA (DII). I believe a school wanting to become a NCAA member, then it has to go through a transition period (not sure the timeframe) before it will become a NCAA member. What is unclear is if the new member's athletic programs will be able to compete right away for conference and NCAA titles or if it will have to go through an additional transition period.
