There may be some opportunity there.


Reaching viewers in new markets is what adds value for television. I don't think enough ACC schools would add ice hockey to create a viable ice hockey league with existing members. However, I think that the ACC could enter some kind of relationship with Hockey East to increase television appeal in New England to add viewers there. Adding UConn would give the ACC a second Hockey East member along with Boston College. Perhaps some arrangement could be made to sell the channel throughout the New England states for the hockey, and along with it they get ACC basketball, football, baseball, etc. Syracuse has women's ice hockey. Perhaps they add men's.

We'd have to pay Hockey East, or ESPN would, but perhaps it would be mutually beneficial to everyone.
