With them it's not just football you have to worry about.


Yes Rutgers is the state flagship of New Jersey like SUNY Buffalo is of New York. But there has never been the drive to win in athletics of any kind at Rutgers. They have won nothing in over 100 years but a fencing title in 1949. The fire is just not there to reach the "potential" you're referring to. I assume the Big Ten bought into "potential". They'll be waiting for it forever.

That's why I much prefer options like Connecticut or West Virginia. I see the fire in both of those, and I think both of those have tremendous potential. Not so with Rutgers. Not at all. I listened to Mike Tranghese say it in an interview right after Rutgers was invited to the B1G. He's still very much correct.
