Remember I do say it is contingent on a couple of things.


First, whether the power conferences decide that all schools should sponsor the same sports or not. Second, whether the power conferences decide to pool their resources together in terms of media contracts. Under the current model the networks don't have any incentive to pay for the addition of G5 schools.

However, forming a new association or new NCAA division level may be enough of a game changer for everyone to not continue with the current model. If the power conferences do make that decision to form a new association or NCAA division level, then it is possible they may decide to follow the NFL model of doing business. Why re-invent the wheel if someone else has established a business model that is profitable and relatively easy for the schools to implement for this new association/NCAA division level?
