I like how he and Ratcliffe make it sound as if VT's inclusion was planned.
He knew that ACC basketball was the best in the country over the long haul, although the Big East was stealing some of the league’s thunder. Football had to be improved. There was concern that the conference couldn’t maximize its football potential without expanding, and thusly Miami and Virginia Tech were added in 2004, and Boston College a year later.
“Had we not done that, the next round of things that happened could have really put us in a bad position,” Swofford said.
Eye roll.
I'm not a big Swofford fan. I think he's .... okay ... but I really don't think your commissioner should be a graduate (and former athlete) of one of your member schools. I think it clouds his judgment and perspective.
