Not too excited about continuing them? If that were true,
then why did Louisville agree to play Memphis at MSG for the 2017-2018 season? The two schools tried to get something for the 2016-2017 season, but nothing materialized for a number of different reasons. There is speculation that this neutral site game could lead to more frequent contests between the 2 schools going forward either as a neutral site game or a home-home series. Given that teams will have fewer OOC slots once it switches to a 20-game conference schedule and 1 slot is reserved for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, teams will be less willing to enter into long term agreements. At best teams may be willing to enter into 2-4 game series at a time because it still gives them flexibility to play in regular season tournaments.
For the football teams there is no value playing a conference game at UConn. At least by playing @Cincy or @Memphis there is recruiting value because OH and TN are more fertile than CT and even the entire New England Region.
