If the ACC was looking to have members for individual sports
instead of full membership, then I would gladly trade ECU football for either Duke football or Wake football. ECU has a higher upside than either Duke or Wake because it is a public school and will have an easier time building a large fanbase. Right now ECU football is not too far away from becoming another NC State which I would consider to have a solid program.
The problem Duke and Wake will always have in football is that they will never have a football fanbase large enough to where the program is considered to be relevant on the national stage compared to how both schools are viewed in basketball. Even if either program is able to obtain the success of Da U, you won't see the national media talk about them in the same light they talk about Miami, Notre Dame, or USC. Heck if they go into the same decline as the Da U has experienced, then you definitely won't see the media proclaim every year that they are back.
Now if you are talking about as a full member, then I would say no because 4 NC schools is enough.
