If the ACC did add those 2 FL schools, then most likely
it would maintain the current static divisions and just pair UCF with USF. As a result teams would play 1 protected cross-division game and 1 rotating cross-division game. At least by going north-south alignment the ACC can eliminate the protected cross-division game and implement 2 rotating cross-division games. Also as I said before teams can be assured that it will have 1 cross-division opponent from each subgroup year in and year out.
