Even though both UConn's and Kansas's football programs are not highly

desired right now, which one has the higher ceiling?

Memorial Stadium (Kansas) has a current capacity of 50,071. It should be noted that in 2009 Kansas had 52,530 attendees for the game against Northern Colorado. Rentschler Field has a current capacity of 40,000. It should be noted that in 2013 UConn had 42,704 attendees for the Michigan game. I think UConn temporary bleachers were brought in to expand the attendance. I am not sure what Kansas did to boost its attendance or possibly the school decided to remove some seats. Memorial Stadium is located on Kansas's campus. Whereas Rentschler Field is located approximately 25 miles away from UConn's campus.

If both programs got good (again in Kansas's case) and was able to maintain it with some consistency, then which one has the potential for a larger fanbase? Does Kansas have the potential to have a Nebraska-like fanbase (like because it has to share the state with K-State)? Does UConn have the potential to become THE FBS football program for all of New England? On the flip side if neither program ever becomes good again, then which one has the potential to become the heavier deadweight?

What makes this topic so interesting is the ACC and Big Ten could likely be competing over the same schools. The Big Ten currently seems to be in a better position to take on deadweight with the addition of Rutgers and lesser extent Maryland. If the Big Ten takes either (or both schools), then could ACC fans regret the ACC's inaction even though neither school would add much value in football?
