The overlap point is my point.


Connecticut is a 3.5 million person market, or 1+ million television households that is contiguous to the northern end of the ACC's footprint that is not served by a P5 conference, and it has no risk of overlap for the first P5 that enters it. It complements the existing ACC markets of Massachusetts and New York. The ACC has no overlap in those markets either from college sports, but does from professional sports. And the Big Ten is trying to leverage its member from New Jersey to grow mind share in New York City.

The cable subscriber model is how channels are paid today, but as you say there is evolution that is giving the consumer more choices. I see UConn in Connecticut bringing enough enthusiasm for its sports teams in the market to make that transition very well and helpful to the conference they are in when it occurs. The ACC would be foolish to allow that become a conference other than the ACC.
